Privacy policy

This site collects nothing about you. No accounts, no logins, no sign-ups, no forms, no comments, no mailing list.

A few things are still worth knowing.

Google Analytics

We use it to see which pages get read, so we know which answers to write next. It puts a cookie in your browser holding a random ID, and records your rough location, your device, and the pages you open.

We won't call that data anonymous, though. A random ID that follows you from page to page is still information about a person. If you'd rather not, block cookies in your browser, browse privately, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles the usual request data — your IP address, your browser, and the pages you asked for — to serve the site and keep it up. It may set its own security cookies. We don't keep a copy of any of it, and we can't reach into it.

Cloudflare and Google are overseas companies and their servers sit outside Australia. We can't change that.

Advertising

The site may carry display advertising. Any ads are supplied by third-party advertising providers and their partners, not by us.

Those providers generally set their own cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, to pick which ads you see, to stop you seeing the same one over and over, and to measure whether an ad worked. Some of them build a picture of your interests from the sites you visit. That can involve more than anything described above, and it happens under their privacy policies rather than this one. We don't receive any of it and we can't see it.

You can limit it. Block or clear cookies in your browser, or browse privately. If a Google product served the ad, change what it uses in Google's ad settings. For the wider industry, there's an Australian opt-out page at youronlinechoices.com.au. These providers are generally overseas too.

If you email us

The address on this site goes to a mailbox, so if you write to us we'll obviously have your email address and whatever you wrote. We use it to reply and to fix what you've told us about. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Changes to this policy

We can change this policy at any time. The version on this page is the one that applies, and a new version applies from the moment we post it. There's no notice period and we don't have to tell you first. The date it took effect is at the bottom of the page.

If you have a question or a complaint about privacy, email us at hello@isitlegal.com.au.
